Two sketches from a letter from JFB to his sister, written while at the Flying Training school at Brough, E. Yorks, October 1935. The two views of the landscape match and the detail suggests a photographic recall of the scene - perhaps induced by the thrill of doing solo aerobatics for the first time. The plane was a Blackburn B-2 biplane; the upper wing is the hatched band across the pictures, with struts visible either side. The windscreen was made of three panels, also clear to see in the sketches.
